Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta is located on the beach and about a 20 minute drive north of the airport in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Had a chance to spend some time at this resort and came up with this short report on what you need to know about this resort,

Completely redesigned, rebranded and renovated. It re-opened Dec 15, 2011 and is spectacular.


Located on the beach with excellent views of Pacific sunsets.
171 ocean view and 48 garden view rooms make up the resort.

Dining at the resort features 2 à la carte restaurants: Italian and Mexican plus the main buffet restaurant with panoramic views of the pool and ocean.

A weekly manger's cocktail party lets guest mingle with hotel management and get to know them on a personal level. The general manager has to be one of the most friendly, easy going and approachable managers I have ever met in my travels, he certainly adds a touch of class to the resort.

The wide and seemingly forever beach at Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta is of a golden brown sand.
Plenty of palapas available to shade you from the hot sun and if you feel like a game of beach volleyball go for it, there's always a game going on!

The deluxe rooms here have king size or 2 twin beds, with bath and shower. All rooms are air-conditioned and have the usual amenities such as hair dryer, alarm clock, coffee maker, satellite tv, plus an iron and ironing board.

You can upgrade to the Royal Club where rooms are made up of 29 Superior Ocean View Rooms, 4 Junior Suites & 2 Master Suites. The Royal Club includes a private à la carte dining room and lounge located on the top floor of the resort. The Club also has a private check-in and check-out reception plus a Personal Concierge Service.

Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the resort >at an additional charge.

Feel like shopping? A 5 minute walk will get you to a shopping plaza where you will find a bank, several restaurants, a Starbucks, souvenir stands, grocery store and more. 

The Flamingos golf course is located close by for those of you who want to get in a game while you're down here. Arrangements can be made in the hotel lobby, car rentals are also available
